mid-century modern bachelor pad.

July 23, 2015

Let's be honest, I think pretty much any guy out there is into to mid-century modern. I know, I know, I'm being completely general (and a bit stereotypical) right now but seriously I don't think I've met one guy who doesn't love the sleek, sophisticated, masculine vibes of the style that has recently resurfaced thanks to hipsters and Mad Men. But, hey, whose hating on the style that has highlighted greats like the Eames and George Nelson? Not this girl.

So when I stumbled upon this uber mid-century modern space, designed by the lovely Rosa Beltran, it was no surprise it was home to an LA architect that wanted his space to read modern yet cozy. Rosa definitely accomplished that. By choosing sleek classic pieces (cue the Eames lounge chair and molded plastic dining chairs) and mixing them with soft textiles, Rosa was able to create a space that feels like a real home.

Overall, the space is simply beautiful and the perfect mid-century oasis any dude (of even women) would be happy to call home.

modern, sleek & simple.

July 16, 2015

Let's talk about design styles. There is uber modern, overly eccentric, pretty & bold, and then there is this. This I would call is homey modern. Yes the majority of the space consists of modern line and texture, but certain details make this space incredibly homey. The vintage Moroccan rug (the fact that it's on a diagonal is my new favorite thing), the rustic dining table scheme, and the cozy balcony set up, all these little touches take this Swedish apartment from cold and stark to warm and lived in.

Originally posted on Alvhem (a website that I believe is a realtor website- thank you google translate), this stunning- yet simple- apartment quickly became my new favorite. Check it out and let me know your thoughts.

AND in case you haven't checked it out, I've added a new page on CMQ. Now you can ask me any and all of the design questions your heart desires. Get excited & ask away!
