Happy Monday all of my favorite people
It's been quite a weekend and quite a lot has changed. Thursday night the boyfriend found out that he got an amazing new job in NYC and he officially became my roommate! Well I have two weeks before he actually moves in, but the purging of things has officially started. I've never lived with a boy before, so this is going to be a HUGE change for us. But I'm really excited :)
Although I am having one problem with this big change. Yes I am an interior designer, but I'm finding it really hard to manly up my bachelorette pad. I'm sure it will be easier once his stuff is actually here, but we'll see. As of now combining vintage and colorful with rustic and manly is my challenge for the next two weeks as I prep. Wish me luck!

stairway to...
There are a lot of missed design moments that can happen in a home. Sometimes it's very small; a floor base that's forgotten, a chair-rail miss colored. But other times these missed design moments are huge, like a staircase.
Stairs are one of those spaces in the home that has such a purpose- getting from floor A to floor B- but design wise are often forgotten. No one is going to hang out on the stairs. There will be no cocktail parties thrown on the stairs, or magical moments. You can't cuddle on the staircase or watch TV, so decorating them seems a bit trivial. But in actuality the staircase is such a large focal point in every home. It typically takes up a large amount of space and has the ability to be absolutely stunning.
Not to mention the homes that take advantage of the storage possibilities created from the dead space below a staircase. The Loft above decided to use the extra area to incorporate drawers, shelves, and even a small closet. The designer of the home incorporated this extra storage element so seamlessly, I can't help but be in love (that's normal right? to be in love with a staircase. I thought so).
So on this Friday, with the whole weekend ahead of you, think- how can I make my stairs amazing? I have faith in you. Enjoy!
