uncommon style from Remodelista
Sometimes I stumble upon a room that stops me in my internet stalking tracks for a moment or two. This home, however, left me floored wanting more. Originally I saw this stunning West LA space on Domaine, and although Domaine did an excellent peak into the "incredible home with modern Californian appeal" I kept trying to scroll down, unsatisfied with only seeing the three pictures that Domaine published. Thankfully there was a link to the space; that was originally posted on Remodelista. As I suspected, the other moments captured by the photographer of this California home were stunning.
I love how the home stays true to it's original aesthetic, but still incorporates modern elements. The stairway, wall treatment, and flooring are all beautifully reminiscent of the Spanish style that the house's original architect intended. Designed by the homeowner herself, self taught designer Leigh Herzig did an amazing job giving this home a new life.
Aside from the two-way fireplace in the bathroom and the incredible backyard, my favorite element of the house has to be its millwork. Carried throughout the entire home, this new take on wood cabinets is honestly inspiring. I love how the finish chosen has different shades of wood, left with a raw rustic feel, making the cabinets themselves incredibly interesting. I also love how Herzig chose to stay with a similar wood finish with the floating shelves, complimenting the cabinets beautifully. Having all the wood finished in the same style makes the space not only flow as a whole, but also keeps the general Spanish style aesthetic that the architecture calls for. It's simply lovely.

apartment pieces // Homepolish holidays (II)
If you saw this post from last week, you know that I totally nerded out when a piece of my apartment was posted on the Homepolish Instagram. And if you didn't see that post, or the Homepolish instagram, then LOOK! A piece of my apartment was on the Homepolish instagram! :) Although the holidays are over, and you might be taking down those festive decorations, I still wanted to share the pictures that didn't make the instagram cut.
The project was simple, Homepolish wanted to share some ideas of how you can style your home for the holidays. Little touches to make the space more festive and bright. If you know me, then you know I'm a sucker for a theme, and the holidays are pretty much my favorite theme. I decided to focus mainly on my fire place wall (the fire place is sealed in the worst way possible, which is why I chose to hide it with a restored dresser) and a dining set up. I also chose to stick with a more rustic theme- mixing in a lot of natural elements with touches of red and gold.
All of the pictures (besides my personal gram) were taken by Emily Sidoti , one of the amazing photographers on the Homepolish team. It was so fun getting to work with her and see a space that I styled from all different angles. Literally. Besides me snapping a few pictures, none of my spaces have ever been photographed. This was such a fun experience and I can't wait to share more. Enjoy!
